A father had been trying to handle a child custody case on his own when he sought Craig Lindsay's help. A court-ordered parenting plan had giving the father custody of his children, but when the mother sought to modify the plan, a Guardian ad Litem sided with her. There was evidence that moving the children to the mother's home would make the children's life chaotic, but no one was paying attention to it. “My client was being run over by the system,” says Lindsay.
No more. Lindsay was able to right the wrong and ensure the father retained primary custody. The mother later ended up back in court facing criminal drug charges.
That kind of success story has been the hallmark of Craig Lindsay's career. Prior to opening his own practice, he worked for more than six years as a prosecutor, including four years as deputy prosecutor for Kitsap County. He handled tough, emotionally-charged cases - DUI's, sexual assault, drug crimes - and argued before a jury more than 50 times. The experience made him skilled “at sizing up the strengths and weaknesses of a case quickly,” he says. He also developed a sense of when to be aggressive and when to be subtle so as to be most persuasive.
Clients at Lindsay Olsen benefit from Lindsay's deep knowledge of the judges and court system in our region. They also appreciate his ability to combine forceful representation and compassion. “People want to understand the process that their case will take,” he says, “and they want to know they're being heard and understood.”
A native of the Portland area, Lindsay earned a J.D. from Willamette University School of Law. He experienced divorce as a young man and says the experience gave him an appreciation for what divorcing clients are going through.
